What exactly is a single rope clamshell grab bucket? A single-rope grab is a type of crane grab that is typically made up of a hanging beam/ring, wire rope, sliding slide bar, upper bearing beam, slide frame group, lower riding beam, brace bar, bucket portion, and so on. To finish the unloading process, single rope grabs rely mostly on the interaction of the grab's sliding blocks, bumps, grooves, and thimble.

Single rope grab can be used to handle bulk material with grab bucket cranes, and the complete clamshell grab crane is simple to use and disassemble. It is suitable for submerged works and can be used to stack and dump large quantities of materials.

Main components of single rope clamshell bucket

This single rope clamshell grab is suitable for cranes with only one lifting drum (single hook). With a new open and close mechanism, this crane grab can load and unload materials flexibly, and it is easy to suspend or remove with the crane hook. It is widely used to grab and transfer materials in underwater or ground operations.

Note: this kind of grab bucket could open in the air, its opening is controlled by manual or remote control.

Work flow of single rope grab:

• Begin by opening the single rope grab and laying it on the loads or material that needs to grab. The slip block falls due to gravity, and the convex block is jammed into an angle of roughly 30° by the thimble.
• Lift the wire rope, the entire slide block goes up along the guide rail, and after a short distance, the convex block contacts with the groove (the convex block rotates at a slight angle again), causing the entire lower beam to move up, completing the grab closing and grabbing.
• Release the wire rope when unloading. At this point, the bottom of the clamshell grab bucket makes its first contact with the supporting surface. The sliding block lowers due to gravity, and the bump is pushed horizontally by the thimble (the grab is not opened).
• When the steel wire rope is lifted, the sliding block moves higher, the cam is blocked by the groove, which is situated on both sides of the guide rail, and the sliding seat is separated from the lower bolster and moves upward toward the upper bolster. The bucket flap opens and discharges due to the weight.

The grab is placed on the material with its open state in the air after unloading. To finish the gripping process, the slide block detaches, and the cam is forced into an angle of around 30° by the thimble.
