Grab bucket types in terms of grab shapes

Based on the shapes of grab bucket and crane bucket, there are mainly includes clamshell grab orange peel grab, and cactus grab bucket, etc.

• Clamshell grab is the most frequently used grab bucket,with leaking proof design, equipped on types of clamshell cranes, widely applied for grabbing and lifting silty, clayey and sandy loads and objects such as fertilizer and grains etc. ,Processed clamshell crane grab buckets are available.
• The orange peel grabs are designed with multiple jaws designs from 4 from to 8 tines, which can not be completely and are widely used for large irregular pieces loads handling such as of larger and irregular loads such as, steel scrap, big iron, and wastes, garbage, etc.
• Cactus grab buckets are suitable for both the coarse and fine loads or objects handling with 3 or 4 jaws which can be closed very well in the closed position.

Grab buckets classification in terms of bulk density

Based on bulk density of loading materials, crane buckets and grab bucket can be grouped in light, medium, heavy, and extra heavy crane grab basket.

• Light grab bucket is suitable for loads with bulk density of γ< 1.2t / m³, such as dry grain, little bricks, lime, fly ash, aluminum oxide, sodium carbonate, dry slag , etc.
• Medium grab bucket is suitable for loads with bulk density of γ=1.2t/ m³~2.0t/ m³, such as, gypsum, gravel, pebbles, cement, large blocks, etc.
• Heavy grab bucket is suitable for loads with bulk density of γ= 2.0t / m³ ~2.6 t / m³, such as, hard rock, small and medium-sized ore and scrap steel, etc.
• Extra heavy grab bucket suitable for loads with bulk density of γ>2.6t / m³,such as, heavy ore, scrap steel, etc. .

Crane bucket types in terms of mechanical principals

Based on the mechanical principal, the crane buckets, there are mechanical rope grabs, electric motor grab and hydraulic grab, etc.

• Ropes grab. The mechanical rope grabs can be grouped into single rope grab , double rope grab, and four rope grab,etc.
• Power self-supplied grab buckets are the grab bucket with electric motor, which is not allowed for underwater work.
• Non power self-supplied grab. The non-power self-supplied crane buckets are those electric hydraulic grab buckets and pneumatic type crane buckets,

An Orange Peel Grabs also called a Cactus Grabs or Polyp Grabs are consisted of different jaws such as 4 tine peel grab, 5 tine peel grab, 6 tine peel grab, or 8 tine peel grab which can be designed in open, semi and closed tine configurations for material handling with large size or required high penetration which clamshell crane buckets are not suitable.

Mechanical grab & Rope grab - single, double and four rope grab

Mechanical Crane Grabs are driven by rope or connecting rod force to open and close, which is mainly used with overhead travelling bridge cranes and gantry cranes with two sets of lifting drums to pick up various types of loose deposits for loading, unloading, turning and feeding.
