• Same standards and regulations should be applied to the components of crane drum including rope seat radius, tread diameter, and the sheaves.
• The depth of the wire rope groove is 1/2 of the wire rope diameter to ensure the steel rope winding into groove orderly to prevent steel rope from unwinding effectively.
• The pitch and groove depth should be designed and fabricated properly to lower the possibility of steel wire rope damage caused by abrasion between grooves.
• The inner wall of wire rope grooves is grounded to reduce the abrasion of steel wire rope.

Steel plate crane rope drums are usually made of Q235, Q345 steel plates, which are more frequently used than cast steel crane rope drum due to easy and convenient to fabricate.
