Electromagnets and electro-permanent magnets are the two main types.

  • When energized, electromagnets are the conventional type that needs a steady source of D.C. power. These magnets typically work effectively in situations when the coil's surface has irregularities, like a sizable degree of edge stagger.

  • Over excitation: Excitation at 1.6 times the rated excitation voltage is referred to as over excitation.

Cold & hot rolled steel coil handling

According to the temperature of the material or steel coils to be adsorbed,the magnetic cranes can be used for handling the following types:

  • Normal temperature lifting magnets are lifting magnets that can absorb and move magnetic materials up to 150 °C.
  • High temperature lifting magnets - Lifting magnets that can transport and suck magnetic materials at temperatures between 150 °C and 650 °C.
  • Extra-high temperature lifting magnets are lifting magnets that can transport and suck magnetic objects at temperatures between 650 and 700 °C.

During the annealing process, high temperature lifting electromagnets can be utilized to lift materials either vertically or horizontally at temperatures between 100°C and 600°C.

Hot rolled steel coils are produced from semi-finished goods that have been reduced in thickness, rolled, annealed, and reduced in size. They are used to make pipes, steel doors, and tanks, and it can also be cold rolled. Through the hot-dip galvanizing process, pure zinc coatings are available on hot-dip galvanized steel coils. It combines zinc's resistance to corrosion with steel's affordability, strength, and formability. The hot-dip procedure is the method used to coat steel with layers of zinc to prevent rust. Particularly helpful are the numerous outdoor and industrial applications.

They are primarily utilized in building roofs, doors, windows, roller shutter doors, and car body shells, chassis, doors, trunk lids, oil tanks, and fenders, as well as in electric equipment like refrigerator bases and shells,etc.

Because the individual layers contract during cooling, hot-rolled coils become less tightly wound. As a result, there are air holes between the layers. Steel loses its ferromagnetic characteristics above this temperature. The magnetic lifting force is only 75% of the force available at 0°C for a material temperature of 400°C. This decrease of lifting force must be compensated for for safety reasons. Compensation for flat material (e.g., hot billets or slabs) is performed by extending the contact area between the material and magnet(s). Because the area of contact with round material is limited to a single line, this may be difficult or impossible.
