Pakistan Client profile

The Pakistani client's business is a steel mill, the country's the biggest and most efficient re-rolling steel mill, and the only steel mill plant in Pakistan capable of producing 60 and 70 grade steel bars. Its steel products are primarily used in high-rise structures, large commercial structures, and other projects. The steel mill company has offices in a number of locations, including Quetta, Lahore, Peshawar, and Karachi.

Cooperation history

The first overhead crane inquiry came from Pakistan in 2013 via our website.
The first purchase was made in 2016. 9 bridge cranes and electromagnets were ordered from us by the Pakistani customer. And this time the two sets of 20 ton double girder overhead cranes cooperated together successfully.

General requirements & main specifications

Lifting requirement and working condition analysis

The customer's two sets of overhead travelling cranes will be installed in the scrap plant for grabbing/sucking scrap iron, so the QN type of overhead crane is selected to meet the dual function purpose.

The full name of the QN type overhead travelling crane is a dual-purpose bridge crane which can be quipped with magnet, grab or hook for different loads handling.

Comparison of QN type & QD type of overhead cranes

That is, on the basis of QD model double girder overhead crane , the installation position of the cable reel is reserved on the trolley, which is used to supply power to the grab (usually an electro-hydraulic grab) or the electromagnet. All electrical components are also larger than the general QD type overhead crane relatively for the same tonnage load handlingfor the power of the hydraulic grab and the electromagnet should be considered.

The other parts of QN overhead cranes are the same as the QD types overhead crane, the lower part is the hook, and the electromagnet or hydraulic grab can be hung at any time, with the below picture on left for your reference.

Comparison of QN overhead cranes with QZ grab crane & QC elector-magnetic crane

The QN type overhead crane allows for greater application flexibility. It can handle heavy objects in general and can also be equipped with grab buckets or electromagnets to handle scrap iron and other materials.

The overhead crane has a grab bucket by default rather than a hook, which is a distinction from the QZ grab overhead crane. For grasping bulk material like sand, coal, etc., the grab bucket's pulley is directly connected to the wire rope coming from the reel. The construction is depicted on the top right in the figure above.

Similarly, there are QC electromagnetic overhead cranes which is equipped with electromagnets instead of hooks by default, and QL electromagnetic beam overhead cranes is equipped with electromagnetic beam spreader , as shown on the left.

Customized technical requirements finalized

• 1. All overhead cranes are required to reach 125% of the lifting capacity detection.
• 2. The protection grade of complete overhead travelling crane systems are IP54, and the insulation grade is H grade
• 3. The main beam and end beam of the bridge cranes adopted the separate design. The 21.5 m & 12 m main beam is not cut off, and the platform is removed which will be delivery by bulk ship and all others are transported in 40-foot containers.
• 4. All crane main beams have a large-screen LED display, and the cab has a small-screen LED display, and are connected to an electronic scale with an error range of ±5‰. The bearing-type overload device is canceled.
• 5. All the overhead cranes should reserve the installation position of the electromagnet and the cable reel of the hydraulic grab, which will be equipped by Pakistan client in the future. The corresponding electrical including spare electrical should select the larger model to meet its requirements when the electromagnet or hydraulic grab is installed.
• 6. All the bridge crane cabs are equipped with two joysticks.
• 7. All electric overhead crane hoisting mechanisms are equipped with a delay device with three gears so that the operation can be implemented from the slow gear slowly to the fast gear.
• 8. All driver's cabs are required to reserve air-conditioning installation positions, and a cooling fan is installed on the top of the driver's cab
• 9. Install the exhaust fan at the rear of the cab.

On delivery of 20 ton overhead crane for Pakistan

The 20 ton bridge cranes and cranes parts and components are delivered by bulk carge and containers.

• Firstly, all the overhead crane crane parts and components of the 20 ton overhead crane systme except the main girders are packed and loaded in container for delivery to Pakistan, including the electric overhead crane trolley and end carriages and electrics, wheels, driver's cabs , etc.
• The 21.5 m long and 12 m long box structured main girder will be packed with raining-proof cloths and delivered by bulk cargo. Note: it is only the main beam with no motor, reducer, walking table, etc.

About installation of 20 ton overhead cranes in Pakistan

Previously, our engineers had been contracted to install it, and the installation fee was paid in cash. However, due to the epidemic, this is no longer a viable option, and the customer also suggested that they install the 20 ton steel mill crane themselves using our step-by-step installation instructions.
The customer was then given electrical diagrams and an installation procedures diagram, which helped the Pakistani customer understand the challenging installation aspects. The location of the crane motor and reducer is where the trouble with the customer's crane installation lies. After consulting with one of our finished Pakistan crane project with high similarity, our client managed to install the 20 ton overhead cranes successfully .
