Industrial Crane Tongs for Handling Slabs, Billets, and Plates

Billet refers to the blank of the steelmaking plant before finishing rolling, and the slab and rectangle billet are common.

Billet clamp is a kind of special lifting tool for steel billet transportation, which is developed, researched, designed, trial-produced and tested for several years in China according to the general technical condition JB/T5000-1998 of the mechanical industry standard of the People's Republic of China for heavy machinery and the mature technology at home and abroad.

The slab clamp adopts the lever principle, and can realize the clamping of the billet without external force assistance. The clamping is reliable, the movement is flexible, and the lifting is safe and reliable. The lifting device is made of high strength and high wear-resistant alloy steel with flexible action and long service life. The structure of billet tongs are divided into fixed and adjustable (height h stepless adjustable) to adapt to different specifications and layers of billet hoisting. The connection form with the customer's overhead travelling crane can be designed according to the actual conditions. Note: The whole process of clamping and hoisting is simulated by PRO / E design and analysis, and the stress of the key parts is analyzed to achieve good design results.

Slab hoisting fixture uses lever principle to hoist billet without power source, and locates and locks by rotating automatic locking device or mechanical automatic locking device.

The slab is characterized by high temperature resistance, reliable operation, large load, and easy maintenance. Mainly used for steel processing and stacking slabs, has been widely used in domestic steel mills and ports.The clamp can grip one or more high temperature slabs (1000 degrees) at a time. The clamp height limit varies with the width of the gripping slab.

Motorized slab tongs 

The motorized scissors-type slab tongs are designed to lift selectively one or multiple slabs. The tongs allow pre-positioning of the lifting legs by means of an electrically operated heavy duty rope-hoist which basically reduces side clearance or aisle requirements as well as operation cycle time to a minimum.

Mechanical slab tongs 

 The scissors-type, automatic (fully mechanical) slab tongs are designed to lift single slabs without the need of any electrical connection. This kind of slab tong can optionally be equipped with set-down stools (mechanical or motorized) in order to allow transportation of multiple slabs.

Hydraulic slab tongs  

The hydraulic slab tongs are designed to handle single slabs or slab stacks in the horizontal or flat position in low headroom installations. Gripping force is exerted by hydraulic power pack/cylinders.

Applications of crane clamps

Billet tongs -Our billet and bloom tongs are designed to handle single and multiple billets/blooms per stroke in the horizontal or flat position and are robustly engineered for normal use under the severe conditions encountered in steel mills.

Block tongs -Our block tongs are designed to handle and transport forge blocks with vertical or horizontal axis. Our block tongs can be equipped with swivelling gripping shoes which allow turning of the forge blocks from the horizontal to the vertical axis and vice-versa while the forge block rests on the ground with one end.
